Finished Guest House - Part II

The gas water heater went in.

An unlimited supply of hot water is on the way.

The cedar for the lofts was cut and stained.

The lofts were entirely hand built. The stiles were the scraps from ripping down the door and window mouldings.

The ladders were built.

The way up to the lofts is via ship's ladders.

The project really started to come together when the cork flooring was installed.

The white haze is a resin produced by the wax palm tree Copernicia Cerifera sprayed on during manufacture.

The same cork flooring has been in use in some government buildings for over 100 years without failure.

It was a favorite of Frank Loyd Wright including the famous Falling Water in upstate New York.

Cork has many different colors and appearances depending on the lighting.

Daddy refinished the sink cut-out and used it to make a table with left over parts from the lofts.

When the counters were finished and the appliances were installed we declared the project complete.

We got a black sink to go with the black and chrome motif.
